Final Major Project

Last week collected American black walnut, oak and Cedar of Lebanon from John Boddys at Boroughbridge, today I have machined the wood. Hopefully further progress will be made this week. The picture shows the amended leg design with stainless steel wire, I felt the original design looked to heavy and did not create the slender sleek look I was aiming for. The stainless steel wire again takes inspiration from bridge design.

Final Major Project

I have continued this week with the design and development of the desk. The desk takes its inspiration from architecture and in particular bridge structures, it has been designed with a male client in mind for a high tech office or study.The design of the legs is a lattice work of walnut with stainless steel joining plates, these will be jointed to the desk top using metal brackets to attempt to create the effect that the desk top is floating above light weight slender legs.
